What this policy covers

This policy explains how YoWatch handles information in the Android app, private watch rooms, account and social features, support channels and the yowatch.app website. A third-party video site or service opened through YoWatch is governed by its own privacy policy.

Information you provide

• Google account information: when you sign in, Google and Supabase provide an account identifier and may provide your email address, name and profile image.
• YoWatch profile: display name, username, bio, privacy setting, avatar and cover image that you choose to add.
• Social activity: friend requests, accepted friends, blocked accounts, reports, invitations and conversation membership.
• Content and media choices: messages, reactions, encrypted room attachments, media links, titles, thumbnails, favorites and watch-history entries associated with your account.
• Support and safety requests: information you choose to include when contacting us or making a report.

Information collected when you use YoWatch

• Room activity: room code, membership, host status, playback position, queue actions, reactions and timestamps needed to synchronize and secure the room.
• Device and security data: encrypted-chat device identifiers and public keys, push-notification tokens, app-integrity results, IP address, request identifiers, network errors and limited diagnostic or security logs.
• Permissions: Android requests microphone access only when you choose an audio-recording feature, such as a voice message. Selected photos or videos are accessed through Android’s picker when you choose them. YoWatch does not request your contacts or precise location.
• Local device data: app settings, secure session information, accepted-policy version, cached media details and recent friend ordering may be stored on your device.

In-app browser and third-party media

When you open a website or media provider, that provider may receive your IP address, browser or device information, cookies and the requests necessary to load its content. Browser history and protection preferences may be stored locally on your device. YoWatch may block known advertising or tracking requests when Web Protection is enabled, but it does not guarantee that every ad or tracker will be blocked. Do not enter sensitive credentials into a site you do not trust.

End-to-end encrypted room chat

Room messages and supported room attachments are encrypted on participating devices before transmission. YoWatch infrastructure handles ciphertext plus limited delivery and safety metadata—such as room, sender, message type, size and time—but cannot read the encrypted content. Encryption does not stop another participant from saving, copying, photographing or recording content after receiving it, so share carefully.

• Create rooms, synchronize playback and maintain host and queue controls.
• Deliver chats, invitations, reactions and push notifications.
• Provide history, favorites and profile visibility chosen by you.
• Receive reports, enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, protect users and respond to valid legal requests.
• Diagnose failures, measure service reliability and improve YoWatch.

Service providers

YoWatch uses Google for sign-in, Play Integrity and Firebase notifications; Supabase for authentication, profiles, social relationships, conversation records, history and favorites; and Cloudflare for APIs, room coordination, security and encrypted attachment delivery. These providers process information for the services they provide to us under their own terms and privacy commitments. YoWatch’s use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable.

How information is disclosed

We do not sell personal information and do not use it for third-party targeted advertising. Information may be disclosed to room participants and friends as required by the feature and your settings; to providers that operate YoWatch; when you direct us to; to investigate abuse, fraud or safety incidents; during a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards; or when required by valid law or legal process.

Your choices and controls

A discoverable profile can appear in username search; a private profile receives more limited visibility according to YoWatch’s social rules. You can edit your profile and discovery setting, clear local history, remove favorites, leave rooms, block accounts, use available reporting tools, manage Android notification and microphone permissions, sign out, or request account deletion in Settings.

Retention and deletion

Active rooms normally expire after 12 hours. Closed room state may be retained for up to 30 days for recovery, abuse prevention and operational integrity, after which associated encrypted room attachments are removed. Account profile, social, conversation, history and favorites data is generally kept while your account remains active. Verified account-deletion requests are processed within 30 days, except limited records we must retain for legal, fraud-prevention, safety or dispute purposes. Security and international processing

We use access controls, encryption in transit, row-level data restrictions, integrity checks and end-to-end encryption for secure room chat. No system or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or request a portable copy of personal information. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Children

YoWatch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where local law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services, that higher age applies unless a parent or guardian provides valid permission. Contact us if you believe a child’s information should be reviewed and removed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as YoWatch, our providers or applicable requirements change. We will update the effective date on this page. For material changes, we may provide an in-app notice and ask you to review and accept the updated terms before continuing.
